Is this a possibility at WKU and the other universities in Kentucky?  And what will be the unforeseen consequences of such a massive retirement? Little or no rehiring?  More adjuncts? No one knows.  In complex systems that are on the tipping edge it is impossible to predict where or even if their will be an equilibrium.  We can know that adding such a jolt of “energy” to the system will make for even greater instability and will add real meaning to the saying, “May you be cursed with interesting times.”
